About Us
Who are we?
Bracknell Twins Club has a membership of around 45 families either expecting or with twins or more. Sometimes the twins are the only children but often they have older or younger siblings. The term "family" captures all kinds - lone parents, married couples and non married couples. Many of the twins were conceived naturally and several following various fertility treatments. At Bracknell Twins Club it's almost certain you are likely to come across others who have had twins in similar circumstances to you and who you can relate to.
Although the twins club is based in Bracknell, you can see the areas our members come from here.
What do we do?
The club exists to offer support to each other and to share experiences.
Parents meet on the last Thursday or Friday of each month (earlier if it is a Bank Holiday Weekend). We get together at someone's house in the evening for a chat over a drink and nibbles. These evenings are really informal and a great chance to catch up. We encourage new parents to bring their babies along if they are feeding or can't get a sitter.
In addition to these monthly get-togethers we also have various dates throughout the year including the Annual Cheese and Wine Evening, a Fun Day for the whole family, picnics and days out.
Our events co-ordinator is in regular contact with Members with opportunities to meet up, whether it's Monkey Mates Soft Play Area, Tri-Lakes, Beale Park or just a stroll in the park; there's bound to be something for you.
We also have a New Mum's Co-ordinator who contacts all our new Members who are expecting Twins or more or whose multiples are under the age of one year. The New Mum's Co-ordinator arranges regular 'Bumps and Babes' coffee mornings for new parents to catch up and share their experiences.
To keep members in touch with everything going on, we send out a monthly newsletter to all existing and prospective members. This also sometimes contains research articles about twins.
As a club we regularly fundraise to provide 'extra' support for the club. Most recently we received £3800 from the Berkshire Community Foundation to provide two parenting courses aimed specifically at parents of multiples.
Bracknell Twins Club is an affiliated Member of TAMBA (Twins and Multiple Birth Association). We have a library of literature published by both TAMBA and the Multiple Birth Foundation.
Funding
We are a self-help group which means basically that we fund ourselves for the everyday running of the group.
